Clay Earring Jewelry Making Supplies

Clay Earring Jewelry Making Supplies - BabylonCutters

Clay earrings are a great way to add some sparkle to your ears without spending too much money. They are inexpensive, easy to make, and come in many different shapes and sizes. You can create your own design and let the creativity shine!

You will need some basic tools and materials and all of them are listed below:

Materials

  • Polymer clay in various colors (Preferably Sculpey Premo, Souffle, Cernit or Fimo- try to avoid Sculpey 3 as it is more prone to breaking after baking)
  • Earring backs (stud posts, hooks, or hoops)
  • Jump rings to connect the pieces
  • Flexible superglue such as Loctite Gel or Gorilla Glue Gel Superglue to secure the backs if you are using stud posts
  • A shiny ceramic tile or marble surface

Tools

  • Acrylic rolling pin - If you have a pasta machine that's even better! (If you don't have one at the moment, try using a flat glass jar and two ice cream sticks to roll out your clay at an even height!)
  • X-Acto, craft knife or tissue blade
  • Clay cutters or any texture rollers you like
  • Toothpick or a needle to drill holes for jumprings
  • Flat baking sheet and an oven, preferable an oven thermometer to watch the steady heating
  • Jewelry pliers to assemble the pieces together

These are fine to start with the basic designs if you are only creating for yourself. If you are making the clay earrings to sell, you may consider a much more professional list as well, such as a Dremel to drill holes instead of a toothpick!
